Academic Suspension
| SPC Academic Appeal Form | Printable Application for Admission |
Academic suspension should not be viewed as punishment. It is based on the philosophy that a student may continue to enroll as long as satisfactory progress toward an educational goal is being made. When progress is not satisfactory, the student is given time to reconsider goals and career plans outside the educational setting.
Students who enroll while on academic probation (cumulative college-level course work GPA below 2.00) will be suspended from the succeeding term if they fail to achieve at least a 2.00 GPA in college-level courses for that term. Students who are placed on academic suspension at the conclusion of the spring term are not eligible for enrollment the following fall semester. However, they may enroll in the summer sessions and attempt to improve their cumulative GPA.
South Plains College has a process in place for academic appeals. To initiate the process, click on the SPC Academic Appeal Form link.
